Are you Bananas over Bananas? If you’re a fan of bananas, this simple-to-make treat is one we think you’ll enjoy.

This is what you’ll need to make this:

3-4 Ripe plantain bananas (although regular bananas can also be used).

Sheets of spring roll pastry sheets. (You can find these in your local Asian market’s refrigerated section)

Small bowl of water

Cooking oil for deep frying

Instructions:

Peel bananas and slice them into roughly 3 inch sections and about 1/4 inch thick.

On stove top, heat up oil in pot for deep frying banana egg rolls ( or use a deep fryer if you have one). We haven’t tried using an air fryer for this so we don’t know how it will turn out. If you do use an air fryer, please leave a comment and let us know how it came out.

Start with one pastry sheet. Take a banana slice and place it near one corner. Fold over banana once, then fold in side corners and continue folding over until a small section of the remaining corner is left. Dip finger in small bowl of water and wet remaining corner to seal wrap. Repeat with remaining slices of banana.

When the oil temperature reaches 350° F, carefully place wrapped banana into oil. You maybe able to cook a few at a time depending on the size of pot you are using. Warning: Be very careful, bananas may explode out of wrapper. We recommend using a splatter guard while frying. Keep banana egg rolls in oil until the wrapper turns a golden brown which should take only a few minutes.

Carefully remove banana egg rolls from oil using tongs and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess oil. Repeat until all banana egg rolls are cooked.

They are now ready to be eaten. ( You may want to let it cool down a bit before taking a bite because it will be quite hot). Although they are delicious as they are (crispy on the outside and sweet and soft on the inside), you may top them with chocolate syrup, condensed milk, honey and sesame seeds, powdered sugar, or ice cream. Hope you enjoy this delicious treat!
